Don't Be So Spiritual...

James 2.15-17

Suppose a brother or a sister is without clothes and daily food. If one of you says to them, “Go in peace; keep warm and well fed,” but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it? In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.

If your faith does not lead to action, it is NOT faith. We don't want to be so spiritual that we miss what is right in front of us. All people have needs: physical, emotional, social, spiritual, etc. Some needs are more urgent, like food, while others are more important to our growth as people, like community.

This picture is a picture of close knit community. Not only do the youngest children have adults to look up to, but also those who may be just a little older, to provide an example of what caring for the community looks like.

At NOGNB we seek to be a place where people can fulfill their deepest, most important need and that is the need for God. We meet physical, social, and other needs we have identified as a means to show our faith. Having food, a safe place or a loving community driven by faith is a greater testimony of God's goodness thoughts, prayers and scriptures without action. Don't be so spiritual that you miss God's work for you that's right in front of you.
